Islamic State group offshoot claims 2017 Niger attack on US


An Islamic State group Sahara offshoot is claiming it carried out the October assault in Niger that killed 4 U.S. troopers and 4 Nigerien troops.

The Mauritanian Nouakchott Information Company reported Friday that the self-professed IS affiliate Abu al-Walid al-Sahrawi claimed duty for the Oct. four assault about one hundred twenty miles (200 kilometers) north of Niger’s capital, Niamey.
