Man, 22, charged with attempted murder in Lakeview home invasion


CHICAGO (WLS) —

Chicago police have charged a person who was waving a knife on the street in Lakeview on Monday after he broke into an condo and put a lady in a headlock.

Lorenzo Shorter, 22, was charged Wednesday with 4 felony counts and one misdemeanor, including tried first-degree homicide, residence invasion, resisting cops, aggravated battery and illegal use of a weapon, respectively.

Shorter, of Chicago, was arrested about three:50 p.m. Monday in the 3400 block of Seminary Avenue after police stated he broke into an condominium in the 900 block of West Cornelia Avenue and put the 29-yr-previous resident in a headlock. The lady was capable of break away and run into another room to name police, whereas Shorter ransacked her house and stole a butcher knife from her kitchen, police stated.

Shorter ran into the road and brandished the knife and tried to run away as officers arrived to the scene, police stated. Officers used a Taser to take him into custody.

He was due in courtroom Wednesday.
