Grand opening slated for July 6
- Takes the place of former speedway parks in El Paso and out of doors Las Cruces

VADO – A brand new auto racing park will open its gate to the general public for the primary time this weekend in southern Doña Ana County.
Although the grand opening just isn’t until July 6, and development of some of its amenities have been nonetheless underway on Thursday, the dust monitor is ready and the Vado Speedway, constructed on leased state belief land proper subsequent to Interstate 10, will host “sneak previews” Friday and Saturday night.
Thereafter, the gates will open every weekend at 5 p.m., with races operating from 7:forty five p.m. until 10:30 or 11 p.m.
Work crews have been busy Thursday afternoon with development on four luxury suites that may ultimately supply personal seating with rooftop vistas, and testing of the sound system was underway.
Proprietor Royal Jones anticipates the 3,400-seat venue will draw much more visitors annually than at his previous tracks, the Southern New Mexico Speedway at the Southern New Mexico State Fairgrounds outdoors Las Cruces and the El Paso Speedway Park.

The concept, Jones advised the Solar-News, emerged through the years he and his basic manager, Rue Stone, commuted between the two parks. “We should always make one monitor between the 2 cities, for the two cities,” he recalled considering.
In plain sight of interstate vacationers, the brand new speedway has taken form with the three/eight-mile dust monitor and bleachers seeming to rise from the desert flooring instantly subsequent to the freeway.
The park is host to 9 courses of auto races, and Stone stated the venue would welcome events throughout the year, together with boxing and combined martial arts matches. Auto races may even continue throughout the year, with Stone telling the Solar-News the World of Outlaws sprint car tour will come to Vado next winter.
“Everybody around here is anxious to race,” Jones said.
