A pedestrian is dead after Livonia police say a vehicle struck him while crossing the road Thursday night.
Police said in a news release that the pedestrian, a 65-year-old man from Ypsilanti, was crossing Seven Mile at Wayne at about 8:30 p.m. Jan. 10. They were called on an accident that took place when an 18-year-old Livonia man driving a passenger vehicle westbound on Seven Mile struck the pedestrian in the road.
An initial investigation revealed the pedestrian disregarded the crossing signal at the intersection and tried to cross while having a red signal telling him not to walk.
The man was taken to a nearby hospital by first responders and was later pronounced dead.
