CAPE COD, Mass. (WCMH) — A seafood restaurant in Massachusetts was stunned when a rare lobster turned up out of the blue.
Arnold’s Lobster & Clam Bar just lately posted a photograph of the uncommon find.
In line with the College of Maine, an estimated one in two million lobsters have the brilliant blue coloring. The coloration is due to a genetic defect that causes the lobster to supply an extreme amount of a protein that provides it the color.
Rare as it’s, a blue lobster is not the rarest lobster.
Most lobsters only flip purple after they’re cooked. The chances of discovering a stay pink lobster are one in 30 million.
Extra uncommon but are yellow lobsters, calico lobsters, cut up-coloured lobsters and albino lobsters.
The chances of finding an albino lobster are one in one hundred million.
As for the blue lobster that turned up at Arnold’s Lobster & Clam Bar, proprietor Nathan Nickerson says he plans to donate it to an aquarium.
