SAN RAMON (KRON) – An East Bay High Faculty is mourning the loss of a scholar who was killed in a shooting on Tuesday.

Detectives are still on the hunt for the suspect who opened fire, leaving the senior from San Ramon dead and another person seriously wounded.

KRON4’s Terisa Estacio spoke with the victim’s classmates at California High School who were shocked and saddened to learn of his death.

“He was really nice, loved music and government class,” one student said.

The victim’s name isn’t being released at this time as the investigation is still underway.

Authorities did confirm that on Tuesday night around 11 p.m. Fremont police received a call about a car that crashed into a home following a shooting.

A neighbor described coming out of her home after hearing gunshots.

“I ran outside to see what was going on,” Tamar Butler said. “A lot of neighbors were out there. I said is there anyone in the car? They said yeah there is a guy in there. I said is he hurt they said yeah he is shot. I said oh my god! Someone needs to go over and apply pressure, he is going to die.”

The student was a passenger in the vehicle and he died of his injuries. The driver was taken to a local hospital.

The principal of California High School sent out an email to students and staff that read:

“Losing a student is extremely difficult for everyone affected. Our hearts are with the student’s family and friends.”

Fremont police are working hard to find the suspects.
