NEW YORK — One of many suspects within the ugly machete murder of a New York City teen was slashed in the face Tuesday inside a Rikers Island corrections facility.
Manuel Rivera, 18, was in the Robert N. Davoren Middle when he was attacked round 10:05 a.m., officials stated. The one that attacked him might be re-arrested and charged for the slashing.
“We’re shifting aggressively to stop gang activity, and the upcoming set up of excessive-tech physique scanners will help catch the type of weapon that inmates typically use in attacks like this,” Department of Correction Deputy Commissioner for Public Info Peter Thorne stated. “There have been no defective cell doorways involved in this incident.”
Rivera is likely one of the alleged Trinitarios members accused of slaying Lesandro “Junior” Guzman-Feliz, 15, on June 20.
All 14 defendants are being held at numerous DOC amenities till trial.
Rivera is scheduled to be back in courtroom on Dec. 21. He’s charged with homicide, manslaughter, gang assault and assault with intent to cause damage with a weapon.
